Intermodal And Special Carriers

What is inter modal transportation, inter modal transportation is a systems that changes modes of transportation. Next is containerization, containerization is a system of inter modal freight  transport, cargo transport that can be loaded and sealed. There are many advantage for containerization, for example is, the cargo may be handled more easily and quickly, less packaging required, goods can be carried easily, and the insurance cost can be reduced. There are two types of container, for the first is multimodal container and airfreight container. You want to see the image of this container. Okay, put your sight a little bit low.

airfreight container

multimodal container

okay, now i will explain about the airfreight forwarders. Actually, air freight forwarders is the process where transferring the shipment of goods via air carrier by consolidating small shipment for long haul distance. The characteristics for airfreight forwarders is, they provide door to door service and can transport for emergency and high value time. Next is about freight brokers, freight brokers is a middleman between shipper and consignee.

Now, I will explain about Shipper association. Shipper association is a non profit organization because this organization was build to help the new shipping company. With this association, they can get a better service and more lower total transportation cost. Besides that, it also can give many advantage to the group members shipment for the line haul.

For the conclusion, there are many types of special carriers and each type of special carrier have their own characteristics. This type of special carriers will help many company to carried their cargo more easily and quickly. Without the special carrier, any company will have a problem to carry their cargo that need a very special service.

The Urban Transit Challenges

Assalamualaikum and salam satu Malaysia to all viewer. For this post, our lecturer has giving a task for our group to share to all of you about the urban transit challenges. As we know, Malaysia is the country that use many types of business. For example, for transportation sector in business, our country may use the import and export of goods. So, there are many rules makes by government that we should follow to sustainability our stability of country. For our task, we need to do studies about transit challenges of urban transit in Malaysia. There are several challenges that the transit system of a city may face.

Firstly, based on what we have discussed the regulation is the most important in every country. So, in term of Malaysia regulation, there are many types of rules in transportation that we need to know. As example, the trucking industry has received favourable tax treatment for payment of highway construction and maintenance  As has been seen in our country, transportation does not operate in a completely free-market environment. Regulatory constraints to entry, pricing, and customer relations have dictated the management practices of carriers of transportation even after the deregulation. We cannot broke the rules that government prevent for our citizen. If we broke the rules, government will appear in law-court. It also has assumed the responsibility to ensure the safety of travellers.

Next, after we sitting in traffic jam for over an hour, our blood pressure begins to rise and our temper are of the scale. You can’t understand why all these drivers are on this highway at this time. They should be at home, shopping or anywhere else except here on his roadway at this time. The traffic jam should be happen in transit system of a city. This is because there are many of transportation drives in this urban side. So traffic jam can challenges transit in this situation.

Lastly, decentralization and suburbanization have created an urban space of lower density that cannot be efficiently serviced by mass transit systems outside specific corridors. Under such circumstances, transit is limited to a part of the city and a city-wide service becomes prohibitive. Access to urban transit systems can also be a challenge, notably when connectivity between the transit city and its suburbs is complex. The goal is to offer enough incentives, such as park-and-ride facilities, so that the interface between the transit and non-transit transport system is improved. Even within the transit city, the fixity of main transit lines creates challenges which are extremely difficult to overcome as new travel patterns that are not supported by urban transit can emerge.

Pipeline

For this post, we will explain one of the unique transportation that is pipeline transportation. We explain what type of goods that can be carried by pipeline, the operating and service characteristics, the advantages and the disadvantages of this type of transportation.

Okay, for the first is what is the function of pipeline. Actually, pipeline transportation was not same like the others type of transportation. This type of transportation only carried liquid and gases. Coal also include in the item that can be carried by pipeline. Pipeline usually carry oil and natural gas.

For the operating and service characteristics, pipeline carried oil and oil products such as crude oil and oil products. Crude oil is a pure oil that have not been go through any process yet and oil products is a oil that already been process become one product that come from oil. After that is natural gas, for your information, natural gas pipeline companies produce about 10% of the gas they transport. Independent gas companies produce the remaining 90% and transport it via the pipelines.

Coal is one of the goods that can be transport using pipeline, coal is moved in pulverized form in water. Once the coal has reached its destination, the water is removed and the coal is ready for use. After that is chemical, the common chemicals that transport by pipeline is anhydrous ammonia which is used in fertilizer. The other types of chemical is propylene and ethylene.

Now let's move to advantage and the disadvantage of using pipeline transportation. For the advantage is, the rates is low, it also can give a benefit to warehousing function and this type of transportation are very tough. Pipeline was not affected by weather. For the disadvantage, the speed is slow and this type of transportation not provide any door to door service. Besides that, pipeline also unflexible because they serve limited geographic areas and limited points within that area.

Characteristics of Air Transportation

For this week, our groups want to share about characteristics of air transport. Air transport has come a long way in a short period of time. Airline travel is a common form of transportation for long-distance passenger and freight travel and the only reasonable alternative when time is of the essence. The tremendous speed of the airplane, coupled with more competitive pricing, has led to the growth of air transportation, particularly in the movement of passengers. The airline industry is very dependent on passenger revenues to maintain its financial viability.
A characteristic of air transport is a high speed. Air is a very high speed because air transportation doesn’t to face a traffic jam. Air transport takes the fast and famous of transportation. Air can arrive in a short time of period depends other modes of transportation. So, the customer will never to wait for a long time to get a product. Fast transport significantly shortened the transit time of goods. Delivery speed, in-transit time is short, but also reduces the risk of goods in transit, so that many valuable items, precision instruments are often used in the form of air transport.
Next is high security. Air transportation has high security that’s why the price is higher than other modes of transportation. There also have a specific box and place for the goods such as perishable goods like a food, vegetable and meet. Air transport management system will also be more perfect low rate of damage of goods, if the use of air cargo transported in containers, then the more secure. Also, because air cargo transport safety, accuracy, cargo damage, cargo less poor, and insurance costs are lower. Compared with other modes of transportation, air transportation packaging is simple and packaging cost reduction. All these are the hidden costs of the decline in business, revenue increases.
Furthermore, air transportation also high in punctuality. Air transportation has a fixed schedule and arrives at the time. So, they don’t have a delay to transport the goods. They will arrive on time and customer will get goods in a short time. Schedule is a very important when do transaction. Customer will be satisfy when get the goods in time.

Lastly, air transportation can sale internationally. With air transportation, we can do import and export activities. Besides that, we can expand for the activity in purchasing. Easy to transport the goods by air transportation and the goods will be in safe.  Air transportation also has accessibility as long there have a port. For the example, Malaysia and Australia. We import the meet at the Australia us air transportation to our country.

Transportation Revolution Timeline

Assalamualaikum and thank once again to you because read this post. For this post, we will write about the transportation revolution timeline. Means, we will tell you the timeline of the transportation evolution. Besides that, you will get an opportunity to get a knowledge about the type of transportation that already exists before us. Now, let's start.

STEAM ENGINE

As you can see above, this is a transportation that used a steam engine. Steam engine was invented by James Watt at 4 April 1769. Steam engine help the process of transportation of goods from one place to another place. Now, let's move to another stage of revolution.

STEAM SHIP

At 4 April 1775, Jacques Perrier invent the next revolution that is steam ship. Steam ship make the transportation of goods and the transportation of people become more faster. Steam ships were one of the reasons in the success of Industrial Revolution.

SUBMARINE

Did you know what that you see above? haha. That is a submarine that was invented at 4 April 1776. This first submarine was invented by David Bushnell. It was used as a weapon during the Industrial Revolution Period. Maybe you can imagine the physical structure of this submarine, so we will show you from the outside sight.

Little bit cute right? But this cute things was used as a weapon during the Industrial Revolution Period.

BICYCLES

Next is bicycle, nowadays bicycle is a very important transportation for people. Especially for the people that live at the country that have a very high capacity of people like China and Japan. But not everyone know who is the first person that invented the first bicycle. For your information, the early bicycle was made at Scotland, the first bicycle was invented by John Barber. John barber not only invented bicycle, but he also invented the first gas turbine.

STEAM LOCOTMOTIVE

At 4 April 1814, the new type was transportation was born in this world. Steam Locotmotive, maybe the name is little bit weird but the physical structure is familiar for us right? Actually it just a train. Steam Locotmotive was invented by  Geroge Stephenson. Steam locotmotive was used for transport of people and transport of goods.

Sustainable Transportation Future

Hi there! First of all we want dedicated our thanks to Madam Shakira for guide us in proceed this task. For this post, we want to share to all of you about ‘Sustainable Transportation Future’. Lately we have informed to all of you about the five modes of transportation that we can use in our life right? But in this post, we would like to make some studies in order to treat transportation well until our future. Nowadays, there are many factors that we can discuss to sustainability the transportation.

For the green transportation definition,it is more to decrease a vehicles on the road. Furthermore, this way also can save the environment. For example, we can walking to workplace or college to get the green transportation. we also can cycling to do our jobs and go for another place in our daily life. Walking and cycling is good for our health and environment control than driving. We no need to drive and get the environment is full of a fume. Next, for every parent who wants to submit their kids to the school, they can use a public transportation. It will reduce congestion in road and reduce fume. The another example of green transportation is using a hybrid cars. Consumers are buying increasing numbers of environmentally friendly cars. Increasingly, many of these environmentally conscious consumers choose to purchase petrol-electric hybrid vehicles. This is because it uses less fuel and has lower emissions.

Next, for sustainability the transportation, the factors of environment is the important thing that we need to know and discuss. Consistently, the analysis found that transportation is one of the biggest sources of pollution in the Malaysia contributing to poor air quality, noise disturbance and congestion. So, in this case we want to give a proposal about to decrease environment pollution. We can use car pool is the sharing of car journeys so that more than one person travels in a car. It is very suitable and a good way for us especially for worker. If we want to go to the same places, we can share the car at once decrease our cost. This is because, when we use our car pool we can carpooling reduces each person's travel costs such as fuel cost, toll and the stress of driving. Carpooling is seen as a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way to travel as sharing journeys reduces air pollution, traffic congestion on the roads, and the need for parking spaces.

Economy factors is related to sustainable transportation future too. This is because the freight and logistics industry is highly important to our economic well being both as an employer and in serving producers and consumers, importers and exporters and the service industries alike. Beyond the direct contribution of the transport sector to the economy, transportation also has a much wider impact on competitiveness with the potential to help economic prosperity through improved connectivity, reduced congestion, improved journey time and reliability, and increased accessibility. Having a region where it is easier for people and goods to move around not only affects

existing firms, but also the general quality of life for

everyone.

Lastly, transport plays an important role in social equity and can be a powerful catalyst to sustainability through providing connectivity, learning and development, elements that are essential to all people. Its includes the following qualities. It allows the basic access and development needs of people to be met safely and consistent with human and ecosystem health and promotes equity within and between successive generations. It also affordable, operates fairly and efficiently, offers a choice of transport mode, and supports a competitive economy, as well as balanced regional development and it limits emissions and waste within the world ability to absorb them. In this way, we can achieving a good education, contributing to gender equity through improved mobility, improving health, ensuring environmental sustainability and developing partnership through linking people and places.

That's all from us, we'll meet again in the next post. Thank you for reading!
