Any location where freight either originates, terminates, or is handled in the transportation process. Terminals are central and intermediate locations in the movements of freight. They often require specific facilities and equipment to accommodate the traffic they handle. Thus, there are the terminal for pick up and delivery, release terminal, break-bulk terminal and others.
